What we do
Provide savings opportunities for families
Palm Ministries operates a Saving group program in southern Ghana. We operate out of our office in Elmina to the surrounding areas. Nine facilitators’ have nearly 5,000 members in the Central Region. Salt savings groups meet with their facilitator every 1-2 weeks and receive 45-60 minutes of spiritual and business teachings from our salt teaching manual. Every individual also brings a small amount of savings to deposit, and when the group has accumulated enough, loans are issued from this savings pool based on lending terms that the group has established. On average, the group size of savings group range from 20-25 members. Our mission is to:
- To provide the Word of Truth to the poverty-stricken souls in Africa, while teaching them to provide for themselves.
- To send men and women over to these villages to spread the Word of God and to evangelize by exemplifying the Word in normal life.
- To plant churches to provide Christian teaching to the natives and to provide accountability for their walk in Christ.

Director | Laverne Martin
Hello from Lavern and Sherri Martin. We are thankful for God’s faithfulness in our lives and for the chance to serve Him together as a family here in Ghana. I, Lavern, serve as the Managing Director of the SALT Foundation, working with staff and community leaders in Ghana to help families grow stronger through savings groups, biblical teaching, training, and practical support. Sherri spends most of her time at home caring for our daughter, India, and supporting our family and the work we are involved in. Our desire is to follow the Lord’s leading and stay faithful to the work He has placed in front of us.
